Who is Responsible for Your Parish Services?
Living in a parish like Bugbrooke means some local services are managed by your Parish Council, while others fall under the responsibility of West Northamptonshire Council (WNC). With multiple authorities involved, it’s understandable that knowing who to contact for a particular issue can be confusing.
To help make things clearer, this page outlines which services are handled by Bugbrooke Parish Council and which are managed by WNC, so you can get the right help when you need it.
Understanding the Roles
West Northamptonshire Council is the single unitary authority serving Daventry, Northampton, and South Northamptonshire. This means WNC provides the majority of local government services across these areas — from planning and waste collection to housing and highways.
Bugbrooke Parish Council focuses on more localised issues specific to the village. While the Parish Council does not have the power to make decisions on major matters like planning applications, it plays a vital consultative role, representing the views of the community in the decision-making process of West Northamptonshire Council.
Use the lists below to determine which authority to contact, depending on your concern.
